Bee Bird is a Podcast Producer and Trainer from Montreal Lake Cree Nation and a student at First Nations University of Canada, an international partner of UNINTER. Growing up, Bee remembers his grandparents were the only people to speak Cree – but he never really became fluent in the language himself. Bee has a strong interest in learning Cree to open the doors to his own culture. He realizes that knowing his language is a pathway to communicating with Elders – the knowledge keepers. Bee believes Indigenous languages can be revived quickly. He emphasizes that Indigenous languages are important – it’s something that was almost taken away from us but our ancestors held onto it – and now when listeners hear the podcasts he produces, he hopes they feel a sense of home.
